English and Comparative Literature at San Diego State University
seeks a scholar of Black Atlantic/ Diasporic Literature and Culture
for a tenure-track position at the assistant professor level. We
are open to relevant areas of specialization or secondary
concentration that might include, but are not limited to, the
literatures and languages of the Caribbean, post-colonial
literature and theory, and the literatures of Atlantic-adjacent
countries or regions. SDSU's English and Comparative Literature
department offers a range of courses at the undergraduate and
graduate level, including several in creative writing, and the
successful candidate will be encouraged to contribute to the
department's broad commitment to diversity by meeting curricular
needs and proposing new areas of study. The successful candidate
will have a record of professional success and publication(s) in
relevant areas and some teaching experience at the undergraduate

until it is filled.The minimum salary for this position is based on
the current CSU salary schedule for Assistant Professors and may be
revised based on contract collective bargaining. The anticipated
salary range is from $85,000- $89,000. Salary placement will be
based on the selected candidate's qualifications and experience,
and salaries higher than the published maximums may be offered in
limited circumstances. San Diego State University offers a rich

compensation.QualificationsWe are seeking applicants with
demonstrated experience in and/or commitment to teaching and
working effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and

demonstrated commitment to developing expertise in cross-cultural
communication and collaboration, and/or (h) have research interests
that contribute to diversity and equal opportunity in higher
