biopharma.Position SummaryWe are seeking an innovative scientist to
join the Discovery Toxicology laboratory at BMS San Diego. The
Discovery Toxicology team supports the early-stage discovery of
pharmaceuticals, including the identification, mechanistic
investigation, and risk mitigation from initial target
identification through to development candidate nomination. The
scientist will serve as an integral member of the Discovery
Toxicology team and conduct experiments to support the progression
of assets within the discovery portfolio. The successful candidate
will be expected to explore and evaluate novel assays and
laboratory techniques to expand internal capabilities and
contribute to the advancement of toxicology research. Key
Responsibilities
- Design, execute, troubleshoot, and interpret in vitro cell
culture and molecular biology experiments
- Develop and maintain clear assay protocols and data
documentation to facilitate method sharing among scientists in
Discovery Toxicology
- Learn to conduct analytical assays that can support broad-based
mechanistic toxicology investigations
- Provide primarily in vitro and occasionally in vivo technical
assistance to scientists within Discovery Toxicology
- Work collaboratively with functional experts across the
organization to successfully execute projectsBasic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in biology, pharmacology, immunology,
toxicology, or biochemistry with 4 years of academic or industry
experience
- Or
- Master's degree with 2 years academic or industry
experiencePreferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in biology, pharmacology, immunology,
toxicology, or biochemistry with 2 years academic or industry
experience
- Exceptional organizational skills and laboratory/experimental
documentation practices are critical
- Proficient mammalian cell culture skills and aseptic technique
are required, experience in primary cell culture and/or 3D tissue
culture is preferred but not required
- Experience in molecular biology techniques (e.g., ELISA,
western blotting, multiplexed protein analysis, RT-PCR, gene
editing, etc.) is required
- Exposure working with in vivo mammalian models is required
including but not limited to rodent handling, test article
administration, animal observation, sample collection, necropsy,
data collection and documentation, etc.
- Ability to work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team
environment
- Good written and verbal communication skills are a must The
starting compensation for this job is a range from $79,000 -
$110,000 plus incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on
eligibility). The starting pay rate takes into account
characteristics of the job, such as required skills and where the
job is performed. Final, individual compensation will be decided
based on demonstrated experience. Eligibility for specific benefits
