Specialty - Medical Instrument Technician for Ultrasound (MIT) / Ultrasound Technician Place of work (City/State): San Diego, CA 92161 License /Certifications: BLS, Licensed by the State of California. Start Date and Duration: 12 Mar 2024 (13 Weeks) Shift Schedule: 20 hrs a week (On-Call, with 30-minute response time) Pay Information: $60 on 1099 Job Description: Independently operates equipment to perform a variety of complex sonographic examinations ranging from routine to highly specialized. Also reviews requisitions to assure that the patient history and anatomical area of interest is consistent with the exam(s) requested. The spectrum of examinations performed includes abdomen for tumors, cysts, abscesses, hematomas, inflammatory lesions, and the size and location of organs. Evaluations of the abdominal aorta for aneurysm and/or dissection, and chest exams for pleural effusions will also be performed. Neck, carotid artery, leg vein, and artery examinations will also be conducted. Assist radiologist during invasive procedures and perform all types of gynecological ultrasound exams. Perform quantitative Doppler measurements to determine blood flow profiles when indicated. Will also have knowledge of appropriate use of color flow/power Doppler to further evaluate areas for vascular patency/pattern. Must have a current and valid ARDMS license with advanced disciplines to include two of three licenses in Abdominal, OBGYN, and RVT. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. Minimum of two (2) years of current work experience in specialized modality.
